The rose
does not suffer
as she drops
her spent petals
to the earth.
She allows them
to drift
effortlessly
on the songs
of the wind.
She does not
attempt to direct
their landing place.
Nor does she
morn their loss.
Instead. . .
she revels
in the sharing
of her gift
to the soil
as nurturance
for all that is preparing
to come into bloom.
